An Organizer creates a dietbet and sets the game’s start date and stakes. The Organizer also determines whether the dietbet is invitation-only (Private) or open to the public (Open-Access). The Organizer normally invites friends to participate and may also join the game as a player.
A hosted dietbet is led by DietBet or a person chosen by DietBet.
A private dietbet requires an invitation from the game’s Organizer, or one of its players, to join.

A Referee (or Ref) is an agent of DietBet who manages official weigh-ins.
Bets are collected by DietBet and kept in the pot until the end of the dietbet.
The pot is the sum of all bets in a dietbet. The pot, minus DietBet’s cut, is distributed to the winners after the game’s results are finalized by DietBet’s Referees.
Unofficial weigh-ins are self-reported by players during the dietbet and do not require photos.
Official weigh-ins are controlled by DietBet’s Referees and entail a photography-based weight-verification process set forth in the Rules. Only Official weigh-ins are used to determine winners.
